Professor Youngkin has been a member of the faculty at Valor Christian College since 2005. He teaches courses he developed in communication, English composition and leadership. He has also created and taught courses at Valor in Old Testament, New Testament, Christian ethics and American government. The son, grandson, husband and uncle of educators, his love of teaching grew from opportunities to work as a corporate trainer and facilitator and to serve as an adult Sunday-school teacher and small-group facilitator in the Church.
He also works full-time on the staff of World Harvest Church, where his primary responsibility is meeting the editorial, research and policy needs of the Center for Moral Clarity, a non-partisan Christian grassroots advocacy organization. He also responds to various communication needs for Pastor Rod Parsley and the church’s other outreaches.
In previous professional incarnations, Prof. Youngkin has worked as a corporate communication manager, business theater producer, event manager, newspaper editor, radio news & sports director, proprietor of a full-service communications consulting firm, sales support administrator, magazine editor and trade journal advertising manager and feature writer.
He has been involved with prison ministry since 1997, primarily with Kairos Prison Ministry, a national outreach based in Orlando, Fla. He has served Kairos at Marion Correctional Institution (CI), including as the leader of MCI Kairos #12, Ross CI, Chillicothe CI and the Southern Ohio Correctional Facility, as the state newsletter editor and trainer, and on the advisory council for Marion CI. Prof. Youngkin has led teaching services as part of World Harvest Church’s prison outreach at Marion CI since 2008.
Prof. Youngkin is a past officer and committee chairman of local chapters of the Public Relations Society of America and the International Association of Business Communicators. He is ordained through the World Harvest Ministerial Alliance and received professional accreditation from the Public Relations Society of America in 1988. Most recently, since the autism diagnoses of his three sons, he has become involved in the Columbus Walk Now for Autism Speaks. A native of Brooklyn, N.Y., and long-time resident of Marysville, Ohio, Prof. Youngkin married to the former Nancy Lynn Broadwell of Centerville, Ohio, in 1998. They live in Pickerington, Ohio, with their children.
