Title IV Federal Financial Aid
Grants
  • Pell grant--Maximum award for 2017-2018 $5,920. Maximum Total Pell limit for a 4-year undergraduate degree 6 years of full-time Pell.
  • Iraq and Afganistan Service Grants--See the financial aid office if you believe you qualify.
Loans
  • Direct Subsidized Loan--Maximum subsidized annual award for a first year independent student $3,500. Maximum total subsidized undergraduate degree borrowing limit $23,000. Maximum eligibility time limit for the government interest subsidy 150% of the published length of the student’s program of study. For dependent and other than first-year independent annual award limits contact the Financial Aid Office or go to www.studentaid.ed.gov.
  • Direct Unsubsidized Loan—Maximum annual award for a first-year independent student (subsidized and unsubsidized) $9,500. Maximum total undergraduate degree borrowing limit (subsidized and unsubsidized) $57,500. For dependent maximum total undergraduate award limits contact the Financial Aid Office or go to www.studentaid.ed.gov.
  • Direct PLUS Loan—Direct PLUS Loans are funds borrowed by the parent for the parent’s dependent student’s educational expenses. The annual amount borrowed cannot exceed the student’s cost of attendance minus the student’s other aid.
Student Employment
  • Jobs are available on campus to those who qualify. (This employment program is not associated with the Federal Work Study program.)
Private Educational Loans
  • Provided by banks, credit unions, etc.—Maximum amount up to the student’s COA. Not recommended by Valor College unless the student cannot fund his or her education through a combination of personal funds, Title IV financial aid, and scholarships.
