Admission Procedure
Requirements for Admission

Have official high school transcripts sent from his/her high school, which must include the date of graduation. ACT/SAT scores are optional.

Official transcripts from all colleges and universities attended must be submitted to: Valor Christian College, Admissions Office, PO Box 800, Columbus, Ohio, 43216-0800.

Submit a pastor’s recommendation.

Submit a sample of the student’s writing in essay form (300 plus words) including conversion experience, spiritual growth and involvement in Christian service.
Admission Process
Applicants must provide all documentation and pay appropriate fees before being considered for admission. Fall applicants need to supply all the information listed below by August 1st. International students must complete all requisites for admission by July 15th or November 15th for Fall or Spring semesters, respectively.
All applicants must have the following on file in order to be considered for admission:

A completed application form, to include a recent head and shoulders photograph, a non-refundable $50.00 application fee, and your personal testimony, which should be typed and consist of 300-500 words. (International Student Application Fee is $75.00)

An official high school transcript or official copy of GED transcript (mailed directly from the school to Valor).

A Pastoral Recommendation form to be completed by the senior pastor. (In the event, the senior pastor is a close relative, an associate pastor or elder may complete the Pastoral Recommendation form.)

A recommendation letter from your spouse if applicable.

A Medical Information form.

An official transcript from each college attended, if applicable.
Notification of Acceptance
Applicants will be notified in writing of their acceptance. Any questions regarding committee decisions may be addressed in writing to the Admissions Committee.
Transfer of Credits (T)
Students who have attended an ABHE or regionally-accredited college or university may desire to have an official transfer transcript evaluated. An official transcript must be sent directly to the Registrar’s office at Valor from the school of origin. (Student-issued copies are not official.) Valor accepts credits from an accredited college if it is a part of the student’s degree program and has a grade of a “C” or better. Upon request, the student may need to provide further documentation of course content, such as a catalog description or syllabus. Transferred credits will be designated on the student’s transcript and will not figure into the GPA. There is a 20 hour maximum on nontraditional credit, which includes online and distance-education courses taken at other institutions, credit for military training, credit for life experience, and credit by examination, including CLEP and AP.
*Credit Options: Students lacking General Education requirements and/or the 13 hours of other credit may complete those hours through traditional college, CLEP examinations, Danes, and credit by life experience portfolios as approved by the Office of Academic Affairs.
Prior Education
CREDIT BY PORTFOLIO FOR LIFE EXPERIENCE
Valor Christian College recognizes that many students may have college-level experiences which they have learned outside of the traditional academic setting. Students who enroll in a degree program must apply for credit within six months of enrollment. The credit will be awarded only after he or she has filled out the Portfolio-Questionnaire (PQ) and it has been approved by a faculty member and validated by the Vice President for Academic Affairs.
Married Student/Single Parent Relocation Policy
Married students must relocate with their spouse and dependent children. Single parents must relocate with their dependent children. Studies at Valor will not be a reason for separation from a marriage partner or children.
New Student Orientation/Registration
All students entering their first semester at Valor Christian College are required to attend a two (2) day mandatory registration and orientation session before they begin classes. Registration packets containing all the necessary materials will be provided to students at the designated registration times. Fees will be collected, ID badges will be issued, parking permits will be administered, classes scheduled. Students are to purchase textbooks from alternate sources. Students who are not present or fail to complete all phases of the Registration/Orientation process for Fall or Spring semesters on their schedules registration day(s) will be assessed a late registration fee of $200.00.
During Orientation, the Student Handbook will be introduced, an overview of the library will be presented and other college policies will be discussed. New Praise and Worship students will audition and be placed in appropriate levels of musical instruction.
Returning Student Orientation / Registration
Returning students are required to attend a one (1) day mandatory abbreviated orientation and registration session each semester of enrollment. All changes in policies and procedures will be reviewed, forms will be updated, and fees collected. Students are to purchase textbooks from alternate sources. Students who are not present or fail to complete all phases of the Registration/Orientation process for Fall or Spring semesters on their scheduled registration day will be assessed a late registration fee of $200.00.
Student Information
Student Information Valor maintains a current address and telephone number for each student. These address forms are filled out at Registration. Included in this form is emergency contact person information. If at any time during the semester a change of address or telephone number is made, the student MUST come to the Administration office and submit a CHANGE OF ADDRESS form to the Registrar as soon as possible. Nondiscrimination Policy Valor Christian College admits students regardless of race, color, gender, nationality and ethnic origin to all rights, privileges, programs, and activities. Further, Valor does not discriminate in administration of its educational and admissions policies.
Reactivation of Student Status
A student who has previously been accepted and has attended Valor Christian College may submit a letter of request to reactivate his/her file along with a $35.00 reactivation fee. Former students who wish to re-enroll must have gone through proper withdrawal procedures and be in good financial and academic standing. Reactivated students who have been absent more than one academic year will resume studies under the catalog then in effect.
